Sunday of the 15th Week in Ordinary Time – July 12, 2026

As we contemplate this Sunday’s readings, we discover God’s grace at work in our lives and mission.

The first reading compares the rain that waters the earth with the Word of God, which always accomplishes its purpose and endures forever. This text invites us to cultivate our inner life so that the Holy Spirit may bring Jesus to life within us. In this way, the light we share as Annunciatists will not be our own torch, but the living reflection of His presence.

The Psalm is the perfect continuation: if the Word is the life-giving rain, the psalm shows its fruit in the fertile soil. God is the great farmer who prepares and waters the fields of our history. The promise here is abundance; if we trust in His ways, our lives, our communities, and our mission will be clothed with joy and bear abundant fruit.

In the second reading, Saint Paul reminds us that our present sufferings are real—the weariness of the mission, misunderstanding, and the wounds of the world—but they do not have the final word. As followers of Christ, we are called to keep hope alive and to accompany the sufferings of humanity with tenderness and faith, knowing that God is preparing a glory that will surpass every present difficulty.

The Gospel beautifully completes this journey. Jesus presents Himself as the Sower par excellence. His attitude is striking: He does not wait for the soil to become perfect; He goes out, sits beside the sea of people’s lives, and sows with overflowing generosity. He scatters the seed with unwavering hope.

Our founder, Saint Francis Coll, also sowed the seed boldly in every town where he carried out his mission. Today, our mission is to go forth and encounter today’s reality without fearing the “difficult soils.” We find lives trampled by indifference, rocky paths marked by inconsistency, and thorny ground choked by haste, consumerism, and addictions. Even so, we must continue sowing with love, patience, and the theological certainty that the seed is holy and will bear fruit. Today God says to us: “Blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.”

Before becoming sowers for others, let us look within ourselves and ask:

  • Is the seed God has sown in me germinating and bearing fruit?
  • What kind of soil is Jesus finding in my religious and apostolic life today?
  • Are my roots deeply grounded in prayer, or are activism and daily haste drying me out?

As continuers of Jesus’ work through our Dominican Annunciatist charism, our task is not to control the growth of the seed, but to be tireless sowers and deeply fertile soil. Let us continue proclaiming the Kingdom with joy and hope, always guided by Jesus of Nazareth. Amen.

17TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME – July 26, 2026

16th Sunday in Ordinary Time – July 19, 2026
