The Dominican Sisters of the Anunciata
We, the Dominican Sisters of the Anunciata, are a religious congregation of apostolic life within the Catholic Church, of pontifical right, incorporated into the Order of Preachers by our Founder, Saint Francisco Coll, OP. As an institute of consecrated life, we live the Dominican charism at the service of evangelization and the mission of the Church.
Our rule of life is to follow Jesus Christ, as proposed in the Gospel, through the practice of the evangelical counsels (poverty, chastity, and obedience) and by dedicating ourselves to the service of God and our brothers and sisters in the Church. Our religious vocation impels us to proclaim the Gospel and to live out a mission of service, preaching, and closeness to others.
We seek to bear witness to the Kingdom of God, to be witnesses of His love, His mercy, His infinite goodness, and His presence throughout history, so that He may be known, experienced, praised, and glorified by all.
Our evangelizing mission seeks to proclaim Christ and make the Gospel present wherever people need it most.
We live according to the inspiration and founding charism of Saint Dominic de Guzmán and Saint Francisco Coll, contemplating and sharing with others the fruits of our contemplation, following the Dominican spirituality of preaching, prayer, study, and service.
The Dominican Sisters of the Anunciata are present in various countries across Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia, carrying out our mission through Christian education, pastoral ministry, social action, healthcare, human development, evangelization, and accompaniment of Christian communities, responding to the needs of each place in the spirit of the Gospel and the charism of our Congregation.

As a women’s religious congregation of the Order of Preachers, we respond to this call by placing our lives at the service of God, the Church and evangelization.
As Dominican sisters, we live in community and share a common mission: to proclaim the Kingdom of God through the preaching of the Gospel, Christian education, pastoral ministry, evangelization and service to those most in need, following the charism of Saint Dominic de Guzmán and Saint Francisco Coll.
Our life is founded on four essential pillars:
Oración
Prayer is the privileged space where we cultivate our relationship with God and allow His Word to transform our lives.
As a Catholic religious congregation rooted in Dominican spirituality, we experience prayer as the center of our spiritual life and consecrated life. Through contemplation of the mystery of Jesus Christ, the celebration of the liturgy and attentive listening to the Holy Spirit, we renew our vocation, strengthen our communion with God and find the strength to live faithfully the charism received from Saint Dominic de Guzmán and Saint Francisco Coll.
We make prayer the foundation of our evangelizing mission. To contemplate in order to proclaim is to recognize the presence of God in history and in every person, especially in those most in need of hope. Faithful to the Dominican charism of contemplating and sharing with others the fruits of contemplation, our life of prayer becomes a source of discernment, fraternity and self-giving, inspiring us to proclaim the Gospel with a heart open to the signs of the times and at the service of the Church and the world.
Vida comunitaria
Our way of religious life is communal.
As Dominican Sisters of the Anunciata and a Catholic religious congregation of apostolic life, we come together in the same house, above all to live united in love, following the example of the first Christian community, with “one heart and one soul in God.”
The community is where our vocational calling takes concrete form and where we share our life, faith, work and possessions. It is also where we grow as sisters in consecrated life, strengthen our bonds of fraternity and live the Dominican charism in communion with the Catholic Church. Through community life, we strengthen our evangelizing mission, placing ourselves at the service of the Church and the world through preaching, education and the proclamation of the Gospel.
Estudio
As Dominican sisters, study is an essential and indispensable element in carrying out our mission as preachers of the Gospel.
Faithful to the charism of the Order of Preachers, diligent study and the pursuit of Truth nourish and continually renew our ongoing formation, both spiritual and doctrinal, pastoral and technical, enabling us to respond to the challenges of evangelization in today’s world.
Faithful to Dominican spirituality, we seek an ever-deeper understanding of the Christian faith, the Word of God and the teachings of the Catholic Church, so that we may proclaim the Gospel faithfully, competently and with sensitivity to the realities of our time, placing our knowledge at the service of the Church’s mission and of others.
Misión
Faithful to Jesus’ command to proclaim the Good News to the ends of the earth, and to the words of our Founder, Saint Francisco Coll:
“To spread true doctrine by teaching it in towns and villages, large and small” and “in this way to illuminate the darkness of ignorance,” we feel called to bring the Word of God and the Gospel, a source of life that enlightens, strengthens, heals, uplifts and humanizes, responding to the new challenges facing society and the Catholic Church through our mission of evangelization.
Through our charism of the Anunciata and Dominican spirituality, we evangelize through Christian education, schools, catechesis, youth ministry, the empowerment of women, accompaniment of the most vulnerable, social action, healthcare and other forms of evangelizing service, proclaiming the Gospel and bringing hope to those who need it most.
As Dominican Sisters of the Anunciata, we seek to be a close and caring presence of God in the world, especially among those experiencing vulnerability, loneliness or exclusion, serving others through faith, fraternity and a commitment to human dignity, faithful to the mission of the Order of Preachers and the legacy of Saint Francisco Coll.
