The community of Lézignan-Corbières, France, joyfully and gratefully celebrated the 25th anniversary of the religious profession of Sr. Veneranda Nyirahatangiman. It was a day marked by thanksgiving to God for the gift of her vocation and for so many years of dedication to the service of God, the Church and the mission of the Congregation.
The Eucharistic celebration of thanksgiving was presided over by Bishop Bruno Valentin, Bishop of Narbonne and Carcassonne, accompanied by several priests, including the parish priest and the vicar of Saint Régis Parish. The presence of the bishop and the priests expressed in a special way the communion of the Church and its support for consecrated life.
The community of Lézignan-Corbières is one of the houses directly dependent on the Superior General. For this reason, Sr. Ana Belén Verísimo García, Superior General, together with several General Councillors, wished to be present at this celebration as an expression of thanksgiving to God for Sr. Veneranda’s vocation and as a sign of communion and fraternity.
The celebration was also attended by the elderly ladies of the house, whom the sisters accompany and care for, as well as their families, parishioners, benefactors, friends of Sr. Veneranda and members of the community. Everyone wished to join in this very meaningful moment, making the celebration a true expression of family, closeness and fraternity.
During a solemn Eucharistic celebration, Sr. Veneranda renewed her consecration to God as a Dominican Sister of the Annunciation, joyfully and confidently reaffirming the “yes” she pronounced 25 years ago.
Before the Eucharist concluded, Sr. Veneranda addressed words of gratitude to all the people who have been significant in her life and in her vocational journey.
Sr. Ana Belén also expressed her gratitude to all those who wished to accompany Sr. Veneranda on this celebration. In a special way, she thanked the people of Lézignan-Corbières for the welcome, accompaniment and support they offer to the community of sisters in carrying out their mission.
After the solemn Eucharistic celebration, everyone went to the parish hall, where they shared a simple meal prepared with care. In a joyful and fraternal atmosphere, they continued celebrating and giving thanks for Sr. Veneranda’s vocation and for the journey shared throughout these 25 years.
The celebration of this anniversary was, above all, an opportunity to give thanks to God for the gift of consecrated vocation, for the fidelity that sustains her each day, and for all the people who are part of the sisters’ journey.
We give thanks to God for Sr. Veneranda’s vocation and ask Him to keep her always faithful to His call, renewing each day her dedication to the Lord and to the mission of the Annunciation.
