In this Gospel, Jesus begins by giving thanks to the Father because He has revealed the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven to the simple and humble, rather than to the wise and learned\u2014those whose intellectual pride can blind them to recognizing God in the ordinary events of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This does not mean that seeking deeper knowledge is wrong. Rather, it reminds us that everything is grace. For this reason, the great intellectual and mystic Saint Thomas Aquinas, after experiencing a profound mystical encounter with God, acknowledged on his deathbed that everything he had written was “straw” compared to what God had revealed to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this passage, we also witness the deep intimacy between the Father and the Son. Jesus does not keep this relationship for Himself but desires to reveal it, by pure grace, to those whom He chooses. May the Lord have mercy on us, so that we too may share in this same family intimacy with God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Finally, Jesus invites us to find rest and to take upon ourselves His “easy yoke.” In these times, when we often feel weary and burdened by the demands of daily life, the Lord offers Himself as our relief and our rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Take my yoke upon you” is an invitation to walk beside Him. He carries the weight of life with us. This calls us to become gentle and humble of heart, like Him, so that we may find true rest in His presence amid life’s many pressures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a world where recognition often depends on being wise, successful, and self-sufficient, the Lord invites us instead to become little, to let go of burdens that are not ours to carry, and to allow God to give us rest. Let us trust in His infinite love and mercy. God is never outdone in generosity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
