It is not a theoretical question nor a test of religious knowledge. Jesus desires to know the answer that springs from personal experience, friendship, and encounter with Him. Every Christian is called to answer with his or her own life who Jesus is, and from that answer arises the concrete path of vocation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peter responds on behalf of the disciples: \u201cThe Messiah of God.\u201d Yet truly understanding who Jesus is involves much more than recognizing His identity. Therefore, immediately afterward, the Lord announces His Passion and explains that following Him means walking a path of self-giving, love, and fidelity. \u201cIf anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.\u201d These words show that following Christ does not consist in seeking success or comfort, but in learning to love as He loved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The vocation to consecrated life finds a special light here. Every vocation is born from a question and an encounter. Before calling someone to leave everything behind, Jesus reveals Himself as the deepest meaning of life. Only those who have discovered that Christ is their greatest treasure can respond generously to His invitation to follow Him more closely. Consecrated life is not simply one option among many possibilities; it is a response of love to the One who loved us first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a consecrated person professes the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience, he or she proclaims through life who Jesus is. Poverty affirms that Christ is the true wealth; consecrated chastity manifests that His love completely fulfills the heart; obedience expresses trust that God\u2019s will leads to true freedom. These commitments may seem demanding in the eyes of the world, but they arise from a profound experience of faith and the certainty that it is worthwhile to give one\u2019s entire life to the Lord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a society marked by individualism, the desire for possessions, and the constant search for immediate satisfaction, consecrated life becomes a prophetic sign. Religious men and women remind the Church and the world that God continues to call, that the Gospel can be lived radically, and that true happiness is found in the generous gift of oneself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This Gospel also invites us to pray for vocations. The Church needs men and women who, captivated by Christ, are willing to follow Him with an undivided heart. Let us ask the Lord to continue raising up new vocations to consecrated life and to grant young people the courage to listen to His call.
