{"id":68982,"date":"2026-01-01T10:00:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-01T09:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dominicasanunciata.org\/?p=68982"},"modified":"2026-01-01T10:34:31","modified_gmt":"2026-01-01T09:34:31","slug":"second-sunday-after-christmas-january-4-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicasanunciata.org\/en\/second-sunday-after-christmas-january-4-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"SECOND SUNDAY AFTER CHRISTMAS \u2013 January 4, 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have come to the end of a year, another year of our lives, and we are beginning a new one. 2025 is already history, but for those of us who have faith, we know it is not just a year gone by. We are certain that it rests in God\u2019s hands, who has welcomed it and keeps it with love, because we are his sons and daughters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perhaps at the beginning of the year we tried to be better, or even to improve our surroundings, and we did not succeed. It doesn\u2019t matter\u2014let us try again. Only those who persevere in their efforts truly succeed. As Saint John XXIII said: \u201cpessimism has never borne good fruit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drawing from this Sunday\u2019s Gospel, we could set ourselves some lines of action:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We should be light\u2014not just any light, but the light that is connected to Christ, the true Light. To be light means to help others through our witness; it also means to radiate joy and hope.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are called to be bearers of life, because we are brothers and sisters of Jesus, the Son of God, who came to share life with us. Life means looking forward, having plans, loving people and the world, believing that, hand in hand with the Lord, everything can be better.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We must learn to welcome the people around us, but above all the One who is Light and Life par excellence. We cannot act like those mentioned by Saint John in the Gospel: \u201cHe came to his own, and his own did not receive him.\u201d We do want to welcome him, because we believe that \u201cto all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Children of God! Does that seem like little?
