On the second and third Sundays, the Church directs her gaze especially toward John the Baptist, the Precursor. His mission is to prepare the heart of the people, awaken their inner sensitivity, and make room for the Messiah. In him we discover the attitude of the believer who becomes available so that God may enter his or her life.<\/span><\/p>\n This Third Sunday of Advent, traditionally called\u00a0<\/span>Gaudete<\/span><\/i>, introduces a more luminous tone within Advent. The liturgy allows the use of the rose-colored vestments as a sign of a serene, anticipatory joy born from the certainty that the Lord is near. It is not na\u00efve or superficial joy, but the firm joy of one who trusts in God\u2019s promise.<\/span>This liturgical joy prepares the heart to better understand today\u2019s Gospel.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAre you the one who is to come?\u201d (Matthew 11:2\u201311)<\/b><\/p>\n The Gospel shows us John the Baptist at a deeply human moment. From prison, in solitude and uncertainty, he sends his disciples to Jesus with a question that contains all his hope:<\/span> John does not doubt God; he seeks to understand\u00a0<\/span>how<\/span><\/i>\u00a0God comes. He had announced a strong, purifying Messiah who would bring justice. However, Jesus reveals his mission in a different way:<\/span> The Kingdom advances not through violence or spectacle but through the humble power of mercy. Jesus invites John \u2014and also us\u2014 to recognize in these signs the arrival of the Messiah.<\/span><\/p>\n John\u2019s greatness, proclaimed by Jesus, lies in his ability to open himself to what God is doing, even when it does not fully match his expectations. He prepares the way and allows the work to belong to God. His example teaches that mature faith means learning to welcome God\u2019s action as He chooses to reveal it.<\/span><\/p>\n A call for our own lives<\/b><\/p>\n Gaudete Sunday reminds us that Christian joy is born from the nearness of the Lord, not from the absence of difficulties. Like John, we also pass through moments of inner imprisonment, of questioning and prolonged waiting. \n<\/span>\u2022 Allow God to come as He wishes, not only as we imagine.<\/span>
\n<\/span>\u2022 Prepare our hearts to recognize His presence and collaborate in His work.<\/span><\/p>\n
