The Jubilee is a concept deeply rooted in the Bible, with spiritual, social, and economic implications. In the Old Testament, the Jubilee was established as a sacred time of liberation, restitution, and renewal, symbolizing God’s justice and sovereignty.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Leviticus 25:8-55, the rules for celebrating the Jubilee are detailed. Slaves who had been sold due to debts were set free, reminding us that we all belong to God. Sold lands were returned to their original owners, preventing the accumulation of wealth in a few hands and promoting equity. The land was to rest, trusting in divine provision. Additionally, debts were canceled, granting a new opportunity to rebuild life without unbearable burdens.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Luke 4:16-21, quoting Isaiah 61:1-2, Jesus presents Himself as the fulfillment of the ultimate Jubilee:<\/span><\/p>\n

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind; to set the oppressed free and to proclaim the year of the Lord\u2019s favor.”<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Thus, Jesus establishes His mission: to bring us freedom, healing, and restoration, promoting a constant renewal of our faith and justice.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Double Jubilee of the Dominican Sisters of the Anunciata holds special significance as it commemorates two fundamental events. First, the Church\u2019s Jubilee of Hope invites us to renew our faith and mission in today\u2019s world, promoting conversion, solidarity, and commitment to those most in need. Second, we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the passing of Saint Francisco Coll, founder of the Dominican Sisters of the Anunciata, whose charism continues to inspire us and reflect the biblical Jubilee values: liberation, restitution, and spiritual renewal.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Jubilee in the Bible and the Double Jubilee share fundamental principles. Just as the Jubilee brought freedom to slaves, today we continue working for human dignity through education and other transformative missionary efforts. The restitution of land symbolized each person\u2019s right to their resources; likewise, we seek to guarantee the right of children and youth to a dignified and Christian education. Furthermore, we promote meaningful participation of women in social development and strive to improve human conditions in the places where we are present.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the Bible, the Jubilee marked a new beginning. Today, the Double Jubilee represents an opportunity to renew our commitment as pilgrims of hope, affirming with conviction that <\/span>“the Anunciata is God\u2019s work.”<\/b><\/p>\n

In the context of the Double Jubilee, we are reminded that hope remains the driving force of our mission. Celebrating this event is an opportunity to strengthen our faith, renew our commitment to evangelization, and work for a more just and supportive world, faithful to the legacy of Saint Francisco Coll.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
